Course Goals

3 Goals:
1. I want to learn about effective ways to teach with technology in the classroom. This goal is aligned to ISTE Standard for Educators Learner 1C because the standard asks the teacher to stay up to date with research for student learning. I interpret this to mean technology and research through technology.

2. I want to have some fun and new ideas that I can use for my students. This goal is aligned to ISTE Standard for Educators Designer because all three sub-standards ask us to create new experiences for the students. I believe that students have seen the same things with technology use, so I want to change that. I want to make things fun and exciting for my students and I think that a great way to do that is to have some fun, new ideas that I can use to help my students.

3. I want to use technology effectively in my own life so that I can be a good example for my students. This goal is aligned to ISTE Standard for Educators Leader 2A because it asks the teacher to share and be an example to the students. Being an example to your students helps "empower" them and their use of technology.

Step 3: How will you engage your students in setting their own goals and tracking their progress toward those goals?
At the beginning of the semester, I will have students brainstorm what they want to accomplish during that semester. There should be one specific course goal (how to improve at English) and at least one other goal that is course specific. We will write down these goals on the front page of their notebooks and then to help track these goals, we will go back to them at least once a month to see where they are, what they can improve on, and if we need to change their goal. At the end of the semester, we will evaluate our goals and observe how we did and what we could do better. We will then make new goals for the next semester.
