Equity Reflection

1. Most of the schools that we are teaching in have one to one Chromebooks. What is different is that my teacher, and English teacher, has Chromebooks in her classroom while the other teachers have to sign up for them. They all use different websites for different things like grades or testing but they all use Canvas for LMS. I believe that the students are getting equitable access to the technology but I think a classroom set for all the classes would be great for the students. That way the teacher can use them whenever he/she desires. In my class, they definitely are getting equitable access.

2. Alpine school district is at about .5 technology to each student while the state is at .84 to each student. I think that my teacher is very fortunate to have a classroom set that she is allowed to use whenever she wants to. Most of their technology is about 3 years old or so which is better but I think overall, I think it's not very equitable when you look at her class next to the rest of the district.

3. I looked at Iron County district and I thought it was interesting that they have about .82 technology to each student which is almost 1 to 1. I noticed that they also had a lot fewer students which makes it easier to make technology available to the students. After looking at another district, I found that my cooperating teacher is even more fortunate to have a classroom set because it seems that not many classes are able to have one.

4. Having more technology and having it be one to one gives the students more opportunities to learn and to become more technologically literate. Having equitable access to technology also helps the teachers think of more activities that can interest the students and help them in their teaching. Overall, I think Utah is getting better when it comes to one to one technology to students and Alpine is also getting better which I think is great!
